Preparation for BIWAICHI

helmetFor safety, please be sure to wear one.(Free rental available)
EyewearWe recommend wearing sunglasses or glasses to protect your eyes from sunlight, flying insects, and flying stones from cars.(Free rental available)
Upper BodyDress in layers to accommodate temperature changes. We recommend wearing underwear made of dry materials.
Even in summer, wearing long sleeves will protect you from the sun and in case of a fall.
Lower BodyIt is best to avoid stiff denim and other materials and choose something that will not interfere with pedaling.Cycling inner pants are recommended as they have padding to reduce pain in the buttocks.(Saddle covers are available for free rental, but they cannot be installed on junior bikes.)
glovesI recommend cycling gloves (available in stores for 800 yen including tax) as they help to cushion the impact transmitted to your hands, but if you don't have any, even cheap ones from a 100-yen store will do, so be sure to wear them.Protects your hands in case of a fall.(Summer mesh and gel padded gloves, and winter windproof gloves, both 800 yen (tax included).)
shoesWe recommend low-cut, hard-soled athletic shoes.
Velcro straps are better than shoelace straps because they prevent the laces from getting caught in the chain.
BagsI recommend a waist bag.Pack your luggage small and light. If it doesn't fit, use a daypack. We do not recommend cross-body bags or one-shoulder bags as they put weight on one side, and large items such as rucksacks or backpacks are also unbalanced and unsuitable.(Waist bags available for rental for 500 yen)
LightThe driving schedule is basically from sunrise to sunset, but it is necessary after sunset and when passing through tunnels.
(Rental bicycles come standard with a rechargeable light or a light that can be used with 3 AAA batteries or 2 AA batteries.))
*When riding at night, be sure to be fully prepared by using additional lights and taillights.
Food and DrinkPlease make sure to drink plenty of water.
(Rental bicycles come equipped with bottle cages as standard.)
We also recommend that you replenish your body with nutrients every 1 to 2 hours.
Please be aware that if you ride for more than two hours without consuming any nutrition, you risk experiencing a condition known as "hunger knock," in which your physical strength drops rapidly.
punkThe most common problem is a flat tire. Please have it repaired at a nearby bicycle shop or similar establishment.(This is at the customer's expense.)Please prepare Quick Shot (puncture repair sealant), inner tube, tools, and a portable air pump.(Although they are available for free rental, there is a charge for the Quick Shot Tubes after use.)
