When Toyotomi Hidetsugu established a castle town at the foot of Mt Hachiman,
The cargo boats that traveled across Lake Biwa, which was the main transportation line at the time,
The Hachiman-bori Canal canal was built to allow all ships to call at Hachiman.
Merchant ships with sails used to come and go, and the merchants were full of enthusiasm.
At one point, Hachiman-bori Canal was in such a state of disrepair that plans were underway to fill it in.
However, due to the movement of local volunteers including the Junior Chamber,
I finally got back to where I am today.
Currently, it is positioned as a representative tourist attraction of the town,
More than 30 historical dramas are filmed annually.

Mt Hachiman towers majestically in the tranquil landscape of the waterside area.
It takes about 4 minutes by ropeway to the summit with an altitude of 271m.
At the top is the nephew of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who built a castle on this mountain.
There is Murakumo Gosho Zuiryuji Temple, which enshrines Lord Hidetsugu.
From the summit, you can see the grid-like Omihachiman cityscape, Lake Biwa, and Lake Nishinoko.
You can enjoy a large panorama that shows a rich atmosphere in each season.
